Rob Huffmaster formally started racing when he was 11 years old on a 1/8th mile clay circle track at Houghton Lake Kart Speedway racing a five horsepower go-kart. After three years and 17 feature wins (13 in his final season) he raced a 100cc Yamaha road kart for nine races in the fall of 2002 winning the last five of them. 2003 was the start of Rob Huffmasters sports car career at the local Waterford Hills Road Racing course. During Robs Go-Carting years his Father Ray won multiple championships at Waterford and the track proved to be a great learning ground. The next three years Rob raced in the highly competitive SCCA Spec Miata Central Division and ended his Spec miata career with the Spec Miata Toyo Central Division Championship. In 2006 Rob and His Father Ray Joined Speedsource with a Mazda Rx-8 in the Grand-am Cup ST class. Running a limited schedule they finished in the top ten three times in five races. Rob finished the 2006 season winning the ITS ARRC championship sprint race and enduro. 2007 brought about a new year and another new series in the T3 SCCA Nationals racing a Mazda Rx-8. After a long year of learning Rob won the SCCA National Championship Runoffs in T3 at Heartland Park Topeka in a rain soaked race. Winning the Runoffs in a Mazda gave Rob an invitation to a shootout for the opportunity to compete against other Mazda National champions to win a $70,000 scholarship to the Playboy Mazda Mx-5 Cup. Although Rob narrowly missed out on the prize, it was encouraging enough to enter the 2008 Playboy Mazda Mx-5 Cup. For 2008 Rob will be running in the Mx-5 cup with Team MER whom has won the past two championships in the series and built the Mazda Rx-8 that Rob drove to the 2007 National Championship. Outside of racing Rob currently attends Central Michigan University and lives with his Girlfriend Wendy. He will be graduating with an Entrepreneurship degree and plans on pursuing a career in motorsports.
